Maturity

Every year since 2020, I’ve been asking the Lord one word for the new year that was about to begin, and the word for this year came to be maturity, also related to Psalm 27.

Psalm 27 has been a light to my path, a strength during valley days, and a reason for thanksgiving after it. The very first verse of this Psalm is what we tend to forget whenever we feel overwhelmed with a problem.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

It raises the question of if we believe this is true, why do we fear when we face a difficulty? Is God not powerful enough to bring us out of it? Is God not loving enough to allow it?

One sign of maturity in our society is the ability to not let our emotions surpass our reason when dealing with a problem, feeling it is okay, but letting have the control of you is not.

David in this Psalm, is very much feeling it, but regarding the situation, in which he could be in between wars or even in the middle of one, he chose to bring to his memory the attributes of the Lord, the personhood of the God.

God is powerful enough that even if an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear, though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. He will hide me in His shelter during troublesome days. I will wait for the Lord; be strong and let your heart take courage because I wait for Whom can change my situation.

But his wait is not passive, during his wait he is searching of the Lord and never stopped going after Him, David reminded Himself that God asked him to seek him and that’s what he did, even to the point of declaring that all that he wants, in the vast amount of options this world may offer, is to behold God’s beauty.

I pray that you would take a moment to read this psalm and meditate on it today and be aware of what God may reveal to you.

This is just the first part of the learning I am having with God, and I’m excited for more! Now let’s go for the updates.

Mission

We continue to grow in our community, not as much in quantity but a lot in quality, we’ve been coming to a pure, healthy and biblical understanding of what a Christian community should be like, mixing the teaching worship and the response after it, we’ve been walking there with the grace of God.

I never get tired of the 30 minutes before the service, the leadership gathers to pray and listen to what God wants to share in the meeting.

Our social projects are defined by Acts 2:47 “And the Lord added to them” because we have been an increase of people coming not for the classes itself but for the sense of community provided.

Discipleship

I’ve been walking with that two gentlemen for almost a year, and it has been the greatest joy to see how God is changing them and making them to act more like Jesus and less like them. They give me the courage to keep going, one if them will baptised next month and even made a poster to invite people to the church.

Prayers

Last month I had an anxiety episode where I discovered that I was afraid of what the future holds for me, too many options to pick from, and not know which one God wants me to pick, kinda filled me with worries about the fear of walking in the wrong path. But after some prayers, I am very thankful for those who prayed for me because it helped!

If is not asking too much I would like to request some more, I will share the options on the table once they are more concrete. Thank you again!

Also, it will be good to know if I can still count on you financially, to have some security to plan accordingly!

Thanks for the update. We are flying to Amsterdam in June and thought we might be able to pop over and see you, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will work out. Excited to hear what God has for you next, though.

Thank you, Tales. Encouraging words from the Psalm. Much needed reminder.
I totally understand the ‘fear’ of choosing a wrong path, of missing God’s direction. However, God always speaks in ways we can hear and understand. If we are seeking to know his will, he does not hide it from us. He will confirm his voice in many ways and one way is peace. You will experience peace as you move in his direction.
I will be praying for you.

Tales, it is wonderful to hear from you and learn about how God is continuing to use you in the ministry there. Thanks for the encouraging words and reminder from Psalm 27. Praying for you as you continue to seek God’s direction for what He has for you.
